Gold Screw
Ok here is a blonde question .... I try to install a new light switch and plugs.?
The light switch has a green screw (top left side) and a gold screw (left side). The right side is the gold screw and then a black screw. The loop has two copper ground wires, 2 whites and 2 blacks. There is one less than the screw threads ... ugh! The shops are 2 silver screws on the left, a green screw at the bottom and 2 gold on the right. Please Help!
You have the wrong button. You have a 3-way switch, and you need a single pole switch. The single pole switch will have 2 brass colored screws on one side and a green screw on the other. The single pole switch will also read on / off switch on a portion of the contact. Before you begin, make sure power to the circuit you're working on, is off. Use some kind of voltmeter to check the circuit is off. To make up the switch; twist your white wires together and put a wire nut on them and tuck them back in the box. Wrap 1 black wire around each brass colored screw on your switch and install switch. Receptacles (outlets) silver screws are for the neutral or white wires, the brass-colored screws are too hot or black wires and green screw is the ground or just copper wire.
