Okayy so im doing a research project on my Birthstone, Pearl and I can not Finwë hat is required. help! its due tomorrow! I need to know: Where in the world found her semi-precious or precious? Common or rare? how its results color (s) physical and chemical properties of its crystal structure, how the stone got its name price range for 1-5 KT PLEASE & THANK YOU!
Where in the world is it found? This response varies depending on whether we are talking about natural pearls (accidents of nature) or cultured pearls (pearls induced by a pearl farmer). Natural pearls are found everywhere and anywhere in the world where live bivalve molluscs. This includes rivers, lakes and seas on all continents except Antarctica. Famous natural pearl beds includes the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea Kimberly Coast of Australia, the Mississippi River Basin, the Gulf of Mexico, just to name a few. Cultured pearls, however, is more limited in scope. They exist where they are feasible and economically. Current large commercial pearling areas: Freshwater - Japan, China, United States (on a very small scale) Akoya - China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam Tahitian (aka Black Pearl) - French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Fiji South Sea - Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pearls Semi-precious, Common or Rare? Pearls considered precious stones, whether cultured or natural. Cultured pearls are common to varying degrees, while natural pearls are very rare. Natural has become more and more rare during the past century due to the emergence of cultivation. Pearl farming has completely replaced the old practice of pearl diving. How is it achieved? Natural pearls found today by accident. There is no viable natural pearl collection industry today. Pearls are typically found as a byproduct of another industry. For example, conch pearls found in conch meat processing plants. cultured pearls are created by opening a bivalve very little, and insert a piece of mantle tissue from a donor mollusks to an incision of the host's mantle mollusks (freshwater pearl production) or in the host oyster's gonadedosis with a rounded bead of freshwater mussel shell (Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea production). The inserted foreign mantle tissue will grow into a pearl sac that will deposit Nacre, creating a pearl. After 9 months to 7 years, can guinea be harvested. Colors? Colors vary widely and cover the entire color spectrum. They are however limited in scope to certain varieties of beads. It is not within a "short response "to cover all. Best answer is that different bead types have different color ranges, and each color in the spectrum is possible. Physical and Chemical properties Pearls consists of calcium carbonate in minute quantities of water and other organic substances. CaCO3 (calcium carbonate) - 91.5% organic matter - 3.83% Water - 3.97% Residual substance -, 01% its crystalline Structure A gem, whether cultured or natural, is made of layers of aragonite, which has layers of each other, held together with a chemical called conchiolin. The aragonite platelets are hexagonal shape. How Stone got its name? Each language group (romance, Germanic, etc.) have different origins of the word "pearl". Most European languages, for example, uses a kind of "Margarita", which comes from Greek meaning little girl. Isla Margarita, for example, was named after beads found in its waters. The word pearl probably came from the words used in ancient Rome. "Perula" or "Pirula" an everyday word which means "pear" and "spherula" which means "little ball" and also "Perna" which described a certain type of bivalve mollusks. The Romans used both the "Margarita" and "Perla" reference beads. In many Latin language, perla "means pearl to this day. Price range 1-5 carat? Carat applied only to natural pearls. But the gem valuation is not most strongly influenced by size. Value factors such as shape, surface, luster and orient determine the value of an individual or part of the beads. A low quality naturally in a single carat size can sell for as little as $ 50 wholesale. A perfect 5-carat, flawless in every respect will be very difficult to valuate the rarity of such a gem would greatly affect the selling price. A price of $ 50,000 would not be farfetched.
